The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is known for making unexpected choices when selecting Oscar winners, but there is a way to predict some of the nominees by looking at the performance of the films at other awards season events.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences often makes surprising choices when deciding who will receive an Oscar, but there is a reliable way to predict some of the winners. This is because many of the award shows leading up to the Oscars share a voting body with the Academy. The choices of unions such as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Producers Guild of America (PGA), Directors Guild of America (DGA), and Writers Guild of America (WGA) are a strong indicator of who will win the prestigious award.

If you’re looking to prepare for the upcoming 2023 Oscars and improve your chances in a betting pool, take a look at the following list. It highlights the performance of each of the Best Film nominees and is updated based on the results of other awards ceremonies. Keep an eye out for bolded wins.
